Asian Pop-Up Cinema Season SIX
Grand Opening Night with Yuki Furukawa in person!
COLORS OF WIND (風の色) — U.S. Premiere
Japan/South Korea | 2017 | 119 Minutes
In Japanese w/ English subtitles
Directed by Kwak Jae-yong (best known «MY SASSY GIRL»). Kwak's latest, «Kaze no Iro» Colors of Wind marks his second Japanese-language vehicle. The film can be described as a tall glass of pure, undiluted Kwak-style.
Starring: Yuki Furukawa and Takemi Fujii
Love, fate, and mystery are intertwined in Colors of Wind, as Ryo (Yuki Furukawa) is told by his dying girlfriend (Takemi Fuji) that there is another her in Hokkaido (Northern Island of Japan). Ryo decides to travel to Sapporo to find out the meaning behind her words.
«Call me old-fashioned,» says Kwak, «but I do think the melodrama benefits a lot from old cultural references and icons, because they evoke memories from another time. And memories — whether they're shared by the audience or not — form part of a collective experience that's relevant to us all.»
Tickets are General Admission: $15 with discounts for Seniors 65+ $13, and students @ $8. (The 20 free tickets for STUDENTS — first-come-first-serve — were taken within 20 minutes from announcement.)
