Delivering us the ultimate cathartic project, the enamoring electronic icon ZOLA JESUS returns to our stage to share a set of grief, reconciliation, and resilience. Touring her most recent release “Okovi,” ZOLA JESUS profoundly embraces the titular Slavic term meaning “shackles” through her production. The album, created in a small house in the woods steps away from her childhood tree fort, is a return to personal trauma and reflection upon life and death. This sonically dark, brooding release offers a transformative journey not only for the performer but for listeners alike.
Returning to support this massive show is FEE LION, the witchy disco/art-pop project of musician and performer JUSTINA KAIRYTE. Looping acoustic and electric guitar lines with retro synths and drum machine rhythms, KAIRYTE's unique songwriting and fluttering vocals have made her a rising star around town. Hailed as a «one-woman electric dream-machine» by Midwest Action in a live review, FEE LION is not to be missed.
WINGTIPS was officially formed in 2014 by Vincent Segretario after informally having used the moniker for a number of experimental solo performances. Hannah Avalon, the other half of WINGTIPS, initially worked with Segretario in projects ranging from anarcho-punk bands to musical theater, and their language has remained fluent across that entire genre gamut. In 2016 they released the EP, Greyarea, nodded to the John Hughes OST aesthetic but surpassed it by contextualizing new romance for post-millennial end times. The album's hooks are so compelling they are cinematic in scope. WINGTIPS' new single, “Relativity,” arrives this summer. It’s the culmination of everything they have worked towards so far – a perfect summer dream anthem for all the outsider.
